Installation guidance

Windows installation
  1. Download the Windows installer.
  2. Run the setup file.
  3. Choose install location and shortcuts.
  4. Launch 1Snip from Start or your shortcut.

Windows may show SmartScreen warnings until the app is signed.

Mac installation
  1. Open the downloaded DMG.
  2. Move 1Snip to Applications.
  3. Right-click 1Snip and choose Open.

Prefer right-click Open or Open Anyway if macOS blocks the unsigned app.

Advanced: if Open Anyway is unavailable

If macOS blocks the unsigned Alpha and Open Anyway is missing, the existing workaround is:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/1Snip.app

This workaround is only for the unsigned Alpha while notarization is not in place yet. Prefer right-click Open or Open Anyway first.

Windows portable setup
  1. Download the portable ZIP.
  2. Extract it to any folder.
  3. Run 1Snip.exe directly.

Use this when you do not want to install anything.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No. Core desktop capture, editing, OCR and Library workflows do not require an account.

Can I use it offline?

Core local capture, editing, OCR and Library tools work offline. Loading websites and checking for updates require internet.

Where is my Library stored?

By default, your Library is stored in the operating system’s app-data folder. You can view and manage its location in Settings.
