Desktop Alpha

Download 1Snip

Desktop Alpha builds for local capture, notes, OCR, annotation, redaction, scrolling screenshots, screen recording, and snip history in one focused workspace. Useful today, actively improving, and built toward a complete visual notes tool.
Local-first Active Alpha
Local-first, no account required

Capture, annotate, read text, and save history locally without creating an account.

Unsigned Alpha

Builds are unsigned right now, so macOS and Windows may show a warning until signing and notarization are ready.

Actively improving

Every Alpha build ships with visible release notes as the desktop workspace grows.

Choose your platform Desktop builds for Mac and Windows.

Unsigned Alpha builds may show a macOS or Windows security prompt. Follow the install guidance below, then check the release notes for each update.

Mac install

  1. Open the downloaded DMG.
  2. Move 1Snip to Applications.
  3. Right-click 1Snip and choose Open.

If macOS blocks the unsigned Alpha and Open Anyway is missing, run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/1Snip.app

This workaround is only for the unsigned Alpha while notarization is not in place yet. Prefer right-click Open or Open Anyway first.

Windows install

  1. Download the Windows installer.
  2. Run the setup file.
  3. Choose install location and shortcuts.
  4. Launch 1Snip from Start or your shortcut.

Windows may show SmartScreen warnings until the app is signed.

Portable option

  1. Download the portable ZIP.
  2. Extract it to any folder.
  3. Run 1Snip.exe directly.

Use this when you do not want to install anything.
